Marshfield residents vote down the protection of local rare turtles

Marshfield - The town will not be funding a study group to monitor Beacon Communities’ Ocean Shores project on Ocean Street, as special Town Meeting voted down a petition article to do so by a count of 168-141 Monday.

“This project is a documented rare species habitat in a resource area. Why is this project being allowed to go ahead?” Pecevich said. “The rare species habitat will be virtually eliminated and built upon. They’ll basically stamp out all the habitat of the local rare turtles.”
